Francis Chan’s mother gave her life to have him. When he was nine, his stepmother died in a car accident. Only three years later, his father died of cancer. He was left with his second stepmother along with his older sister, older brother and much younger sister.
Francis Chan is no stranger to tragedy, and passionately teaches out of his own personal testimony and overcoming life in Jesus Christ. Through the pain that life gave him, he overcame and is now a pastor, international speaker, church planter, and is the New York Times bestselling author of Crazy Love, Forgotten God, and his most recent release, Erasing Hell, co-authored with Preston Sprinkle.
His heart of compassion landed him as a board member of World Impact and Children’s Hunger Fund. He works tirelessly with organizations which rescue sex slaves in foreign countries. A personal conviction of sacrifice has led Francis Chan to give away about 90 percent of his income, and he has donated all of his book royalties, which total about $500,000 to various charities.
He is an extraordinarily engaging communicator, in his early 40s, and reaching a new generation of evangelicals. He has not abandoned orthodoxy to reach this new generation; he remains solidly within the historic Christian tradition.
