As a leader in my Church hometeam, I am always having a hard time trying to find new fun Christian entertainment ideas that really engage others at social gatherings. For example, as a leader of a church hometeam, I needed to find creative games and icebreakers for my group Bible study. And for a baby shower that we wanted to have for one of our members I wanted to find Christian theme baby games. I have done some research and have found a few interesting ideas that I would like to share for different events.
Christian Ice breakers:
The 10 Commandments: Write the 10 Commandments somewhere where everyone can see them. Read all ten aloud. Go around the room and ask each person, which commandment is most important to them and why?
The Tower of Babel: Build the highest possible tower of Babel, using anything you allow in the room. You may want to provide a bunch of stuff like books, bibles, bowls, etc. After the leader’s signal the construction is stopped. You might want to provide tape and glue or something for adhesion. The number of points received by the players depends on the number of items it took to build the tower of Babel.
Name that Bible Character: Tape the name of a Bible character to the back of each person. Only the other participants will know which character they represent. Each person can ask questions about who they are e.g., male or female, Old or New Testament, The first person to guess who they are wins, and so on.
Christian Board Games:
Bibleopoly Game: One of the most popular Christian games of all time! BIBLEOPOLY has very unique game play. The object of the game is to be the first player to build a church in one of the Bible cities. In BIBLEOPOLY, you can’t win by destroying your opponents. You will only win by assisting the fellow players. Cooperation is what allows you to gain the things necessary to build your church and be a winner.
Bible Outburst Game – Outburst Bible Edition is an uproarious party game filled with challenging and entertaining Bible topics. Each topic has 10 target answers. How many can you get?
Bible Trivia Family Edition – Fresh, new game play encourages positive thinking about the Bible’s teachings, and includes 100 children’s questions, making it easier for all age groups to play together!
Bible Scattergories – How many Bible categories can you match before time runs out? Roll the letter die to determine the key letter for that round. You roll a “C”. How quickly can you think of a “Place Christ walked?…” Canaan!… “Things that separate us from each other?…” Carelessness!… Can’t think of an answer? No problem. Just write down any answer that fits the category and you still score points if your answers are different from every other player. This game is entertaining, enhances faith and promotes learning.
Bible Bingo Board Game – “Bingo! I mean – Bible!” Bible Bingo puts a new twist on an old classic. Just cover the Christian symbols on your card to form a diagonal, vertical or horizontal line and win! Bible reference verses on each piece make it easy to look up passages while playing a fun game.
Christian Baby Shower Games:
Babies in the Bible: Have your guest list as many bible baby names as they can remember. The guest who lists the most names wins.
You Write the Hymn: Divide your group into at least 3 smaller groups. Give each group a classic children’s song, such as “Jesus Loves Me,” “Jesus Loves the Little Children,” etc. Each group should rewrite the lyrics to the classic song, with the mom-to-be, her partner, and her baby in mind. After a few minutes, each group should sing their song for the mom-to-be.
Moses in the Basket: You will need to make one basket for each guest out of a napkin or a piece of white cloth. Inside one of them, place a piece of paper with the word “Moses” on it. At one point during the shower, ask your guests to all open their baskets. The one who has “Moses” wins.
Listed here are just a select few games that might help make your next Christian social gathering a hit. Please feel free to add your own ideas to our list by commenting to us in our comment section. We would love to hear from you!
